According to Fresh Fruit Peru, the 2021/22 season saw a rise of around 30% in Peruvian blueberry exports, further strengthening its position as the world's leading exporter of fresh blueberries.
As of May 7, the total export volume of Peruvian blueberries this season was 219,706 tons, valued at US$1.31 billion (approximately RMB 8.817 billion). Compared with the 2020/21 season, the volume and value increased by 32% and 28% respectively. .However, the average export price was US$5.96 (about 40.12 yuan) per kilogram, down about 3% from the previous year.
Peru currently accounts for a quarter of all global blueberry exports, and its exports are double that of the second-largest supplier, Chile.Chile's blueberry exports this season are worth about 564 million US dollars (about 3.796 billion yuan).
Peruvian blueberries are sold to 36 markets around the world. The top three markets are the United States, Europe and China, accounting for 55%, 23% and 12% respectively.
