According to Chilean media Bio Bio Chile, port problems caused by the outbreak in Shanghai have severely hit Chilean fruit exports to China.

According to the report, under normal circumstances, it takes about 30 days for Chilean fruit to be exported to China by sea, plus a 48-hour unloading time. However, due to the epidemic in China, the current transportation time has been extended to two months, and the unloading time is far more than two days, which directly affects the quality of Chilean fruits exported to China.

Former Chilean Agriculture Minister Antonio Walker predicted that this year could be the most difficult export season for the Chilean fruit industry in 30 years. He explained that first, two levels of the export chain are affected: first, the deterioration of the fruit during transportation and unloading will affect its price lower; second, the seaborne price has tripled from normal years in the past.

The most affected items are currently cherries, table grapes, apples, peaches and plums.
