According to new figures compiled by Drinks Ireland, Ireland's beverage exports to the US were worth around 619 million euros last year.

In honor of the 4th of July, the Irish beverage industry is emphasizing the importance of the US market for the industry's exports.

In 2020, 51% of Irish beverages were exported to the US, according to Bord Bia.

The United States is the largest export market for Irish spirits, which will be valued at €561 million in 2021.

Drink Ireland says this is largely driven by Irish whiskey - but it says Irish cream liqueur is also popular in the US and Irish gin is also creating a niche for itself.

Elsewhere, the US was the second-largest export destination for Irish beer and cider last year, after the UK.

Irish beer exports were worth €49 million last year and Irish cider exports were worth €8.4 million.

"Irish beverage producers pride themselves on creating quality products that are known around the world, and the US is a major destination for our spirits, beer and cider exports, which is very much to look forward to," said Vincent McGowan, Director of Irish Beverages Vincent McGovern says | Spirits.

"Despite the severe impact of Covid-19, particularly the global trade shutdown, exports have remained resilient and producers are now focused on recovery and further growth," he added.
