China Economic Net Editor’s Note:U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday. As of the close, the Dow rose 346.87 points, or 1.12%, to 31384.55; the Nasdaq rose 259.49 points, or 2.28%, to 11621.35; the S&P 500 rose 57.54 points, an increase of 1.50% to 3902.62 points.
Large tech stocks rose broadly, led by the semiconductor sector.TSMC rose 6.74%, Tesla rose 5.53%, Nvidia rose 4.81%, Google rose more than 3%, Apple rose 2.4%, Amazon and Facebook parent company Meta rose more than 1%, and Microsoft rose 0.82%.Popular Chinese concept stocks were among the top gainers, with the Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index up 3.95%.Weilai rose 8.02%, Xiaopeng Motors and Shell rose more than 5%, Baidu rose 3.68%, Alibaba and JD.com rose more than 2%, Fogcore Technology rose 12.90%, and MINISO fell 3.60%.
