Britain said it would impose new economic, trade and transport sanctions on Belarus tomorrow, citing its support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The new package will include an import and export ban on goods worth around £60 million (RM320 million), including exports of petroleum-refined goods, advanced technology components and luxury goods, as well as imports of Belarusian steel.

Britain will also ban more Belarusian companies from issuing bonds and securities in London.

"The Belarusian regime actively facilitated Putin's invasion, allowing Russia to use its territory to clamp down on Ukraine - launching troops and missiles from their borders and flying Russian jets over their airspace," the British government said in a statement.

Britain has raised import duties on a range of Belarusian products by 35 percent and sanctioned Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and senior government officials.

Britain and Western allies have been imposing sanctions on Russian elites, banks and strategic industries since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.Russia said it was conducting a "special military operation" in Ukraine.
